Ideal candidates will have be comfortable in a fluid environment with a variety of task and are up to the challenge of tackling new and interesting challenges daily. We are seeking an individual who is a strong team player with ability to complete independent fabrication projects and taking ownership of regular equipment maintenance activities.
This role involves:
Identify problems and implement solutions, from inception to installation.
Be enthusiastic about receiving feedback / requests from the team about ideas for maintenance or upgrades.
Identify equipment needs (e.g. HVAC, steam, power) and maintain continuous operation
Work with contractors to specify, install, or repair systems.
Build a schedule for preventive maintenance.
Work with machine operators to identify and implement improvements to machines/processes.
Organize, improve, and take pride in the upkeep of shop tools and hardware.
Minimum Qualifications and Competencies:
Excellent technical communications skills.
Ability to work with both co-workers and outside consultants to solve technical issues.
Hands-on fabrication experience.
Machining and welding competency.
Experience with gearboxes / AC motors / manufacturing machinery.
Ability to move from concept to fabrication to installation on basic projects such as a motor mounting bracket or new machine guard.
Ability to perform regular maintenance on building systems (boilers, HVAC, Air Compressors, etc)
Knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles and troubleshooting.
Computer literacy, familiarity with a variety of stock material and equipment vendors locally and online.
Experience reading/writing technical documentation.
Ability to stay organized and manage multiple task requests.
Committed to safety.
Preferred Qualifications and Competencies:
Experience with TPM and/or Lean Manufacturing,
Larger project management skills including ability to manage contractors
Experience with HVAC and building control systems
Stainless Steel TIG welding and fabrication for sanitary or food grade manufacturing experience
Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or 2-year technical degree with 5+ years working in a technical field or as a mechanical contractor.
