Food Scientist / Project Manager
Fast-paced, early-stage biotech company is seeking an experienced and visionary Food Scientist / Project Manager to help guide research on groundbreaking alternative protein ingredients. Ideal candidates will have a background and experience in Food Science and New Product Development in the food industry, as well as experience in project management. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of a rapidly changing industry, leading a team of experts in developing revolutionary ingredient solutions in meatless meat.
This role involves:
Hands on prototyping, and rapid development of edible proofs of concept for alternative protein foods.
Be a technical expert on food processing and industrial food technology within Ecovative’s research group.
Connect Ecovative’s research team with leading food research labs both for formulation and sensory analysis.
Project management including strategic direction of research scientists and materials scientists.
Interface with internal and external business representatives to help guide developments in line with market opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications and Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering with a minimum of three years’ experience in a new product development role within the food industry.
Strong and well-rounded technical knowledge of industrial practices within food manufacturing, specifically within alternative proteins.
Project management experience, good business acumen, strategic thinking
Preferred Qualifications and Competencies:
Specific new product development experience within the alternative protein space
Food safety and regulatory experience
Hands-on skills: a love of cooking and creating new foods
