Biomaterial Production Support Technician

Ecovative Design is seeking a full time technician to assist plant production manager in everyday operation, maintenance, and improvement of plant production line.
Technician will preform a full spectrum of production tasks including: cleaning and prepping equipment, cleaning and preparing tools and fixtures, operating production equipment, quality control, data collection/analysis, data post processing, part labeling, and part packing for shipment.
This is a project oriented experience which requires strong organizational skills and focus. The ability to adapt and learn in a fast paced work environment is essential and expected. The applicant will need the ability to accurately and repeatably perform operations, make observations, and optimize their time.
The ideal applicant will have experience in both biological environments (ideally aseptic culture) and hands on mechanical work.

A BS in biology, or proven experience with other biological systems (Agricultural, animal, microbe or other), is required. Training or prior work experience with mechanical systems is also strongly desired. Special preference given to those that like to get their hands dirty. |
Manufacturing Mechanic

We are looking for a manufacturing mechanic that will be part of team designing, building, maintaining and operating our unique production line. Unlike petrochemical based competitors like Styrofoam, our materials are literally grown, which correlates to a very unique manufacturing system that is a synergy between automation and biotechnology.
The mechanic will install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, control and pneumatic manufacturing systems. Additonally, the mechanic will need to apply a high degree of skill and knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles in determining production equipment malfunctions and restoring equipment to normal operation. Furthermore, he or she will be expected to perform setup / changeover of production equipment and make necessary adjustments to equipment to insure machine is producing acceptable product. In general, he or she will be required to work in all production areas, as needed.
Responsibilities:

- Operate milling machines, mig/tig/ and typical shop tools to fabricate and install new equipment
- Set up and test production equipment under power, for mechanical difficulties, tracing to their sources and correcting problem.
- Sign off on equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.
- Must be able to make sound decisions on the production line to limit downtime.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery.
- Write and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Maintains good housekeeping and safety standards.
- Complete daily maintenance and repair logs. |
Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in production environment situations.
5 years of experience in manufacturing field (or alternatively, successful completion of technical trade school), preferably within a food, medical or biotech manufacturing environment.
