Process Development Laboratory Technician

Join our R&D team to develop new processes for manufacturing Ecovative’s mushroom materials platform.  The Process Development Laboratory Technician will be a member of an interdisciplinary team designing and testing solid state bioreactor systems for filamentous fungi cultivation.  This role will include aspects of engineering, operations and research science.   

This role involves:

  • Use of aseptic technique, cultivate lab scale and bulk scale fungal biomaterials.

  • Monitor and record observations of ongoing experiments.

  • Perform cleaning and maintenance of solid state bioreactors.

  • Operate lab and industrial scale equipment.

  • Collect and archive experimental data.

  • Generate internal experiment reports.

  • Conduct lab scale experimentation.

  • Assist in pilot scale efforts designed to inform the development of scaled manufacturing processes.

 

Minimum Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, or related field.

  • Must have experience or knowledge working with a bioreactor system.

  • Conscientious in the work place.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Strong observational skills.

  • Independently driven.

  • Team player.

  • Inquisitive.

  • This role requires repetitive use of hands and arms on a routine basis.  

 Preferred Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, or related field.

  • Knowledge of aseptic technique, interest in and knowledge of mycology.

  • Light microscopy experience; experience working in a lab, production, or kitchen environment.

  • Experience with hand tools and simple fabrication.

  • Competency in statistical/quantitative analysis.

  • Capability and desire to assist in experimental design.
